Land Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge that our operations in Vancouver, British Columbia take place on the unceded, ancestral, and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil‑Waututh) Nations. For millennia, these Coast Salish Peoples have lived, fished, foraged, traded, and governed themselves according to their own laws and customs, caring for this land, air, and water. We honour their enduring presence and stewardship, and we give our gratitude for the opportunity to live and work here.

The fact that these lands remain unceded underscores a history of displacement, broken treaties, and colonial policies that sought to erase Indigenous cultures and sovereignty. Vancouver grew into a city through the dispossession of Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil‑Waututh lands, and the forced removal of their peoples from traditional territories. By acknowledging this truth, we begin to confront the ongoing legacy of colonialism and commit ourselves to learning from and supporting the Nations whose lands sustain us.

Land acknowledgements are more than words on a page; they are an invitation to deepen our understanding and act with intention. We recognize that meaningful reconciliation requires ongoing effort—listening to Indigenous voices, elevating Indigenous leadership, and challenging the systems that continue to marginalize Indigenous communities. It is our responsibility to ensure that this acknowledgement is accompanied by concrete steps toward justice, equity, and mutual respect.
